Civic Technology

Developing and testing digital tools that make organising, participation and community action easier.

Many political and civic organisations still rely on outdated systems that make participation harder than it needs to be.

We are interested in how digital tools can help communities coordinate activity, connect people, share knowledge and support local action more effectively.

We believe technology works best when it strengthens real-world relationships and helps communities organise more confidently and effectively.

Explore our growing suite of Our Tools, where we are testing practical digital products built for organisers and campaigners.

Volunteers gathered on a Northern English street ahead of a by-election

Makerfield Volunteer Hub

A lightweight digital tool we have been testing to support volunteers heading into the Makerfield by-election. It pulls together travel and accommodation guidance, a local briefing on the constituency, and links to official Labour campaign tools — a small but practical example of how civic technology can make organising and participation easier.
